homework assignment. You could make a speech balloon so that Abe Lincoln says: "Fourscore and seven years is too long to wait to see if you'll go to the prom with me." Be sure and add your name or initials somewhere. You could also add an equation to a math book: Me + You + Prom = ?

9) Delegate

Having someone else ask for you can be silly. If that person is a mutual friend, it just shows that you chickened out. Having the right person ask for you can show your fun and thoughtful side, as well as provide quite a surprise. If the person has a significantly younger brother or sister, it could be adorable to teach them just what to say for you. For a huge surprise, talk someone completely unexpected into asking, like a cafeteria worker, or the coffee shop barista. Imagine their expression!

10) Just Do It

Sometimes just asking yourself is the best way. If you're normally shy, it's the most surprising thing you could possibly do. It even counts as creative if no one expects it from someone like you. Take a deep breath, plant your feet, and just ask. You will most likely be glad you did, and hey, you'll save the money you would have spent on flowers or cupcakes. You'll need it for the prom!

Whichever way you ask, make sure it reflects who you are and who your intended date is as well. Don't ask in a way that may cause discomfort for either one of you. Do what seems right and feels natural and fun. Try to incorporate personal references, hobbies or school activities if you can. Get your friends or even family to help you come up with something unique. You're sure to come up with something that will be almost as memorable as the prom you'll soon be going to with the date you've always wanted.
