some luxury a mother might not indulge in without your prompting. Indulge your mom.

Something handmade
The artwork that once graced the family refrigerator was probably placed there by your mother. Somewhere in a box is the first card you made for her in kindergarten. Or an ashtray, birdhouse, etc. Even if you are not the World's Best, your mother will appreciate your handiwork because you made it. You can decorate pre-made pottery at retail locations, or bake a cake, or have a camera shop stamp a photo you took onto a tee shirt.

Technology
Moms are smart. Many moms would appreciate a digital video recorder for their televisions, like Tivo, or a new cell phone, or something to back up the photos on their computers, or an MP3 player. Perhaps you can even offer technical expertise to set up that VCR, DVR, or upload her favorite songs on that iPod.

Gifts to support her hobby
Most mothers are people too, and have interests that they may have put on the back burner while tending the family. A thoughtful gift might be something to support that hobby or passion, which oftentimes is something that a mother might not buy for herself. Because mothers often put family needs before her own, think of gifts mother might not buy for herself. Sports equipment, a gym membership for the athletically inclined, or a craft gift, like scrapbook, photography. If mom is collector, she might appreciate an addition to her collection: pottery, antiques, art, stamps, jewelry making supplies, or even car parts.

Jewelry
Jewelry is a time-honored way to say "I love you." To personalize the gift you might select a locket with a family photo inside, or some of the many offerings from jewelry stores with a diamond or charm bracelet for each child, and the like,

Most of all, give your mother love and appreciation.
These are the most important gifts you can give your mother and the most unique, as they can only be provided by you. Happy Mother's Day, Mom.
