Soul mates: Do they really exist?
Soul mate, a wonderful term that instantly makes a person think of two people that are completely as one, that were born for each other. A lovely thought and one I believed in until I found the Internet and discovered that there are many people that you are instantly attracted to in mind, body or soul. Let me expand on this theory, I met Greg on a pen pal site and it was as if he was my other half, we shared so many views and though we would never meet enjoyed our relationship on line. I also met Lorraine and again the same feelings of knowing her for ever, and we would laugh, albeit not physically that we would know what the other was thinking. Ron I met and we write together, via email, he will write a paragraph and I will add to it on what ever subject we are chatting about, its difficult to see where he has finished and I have started as we write so alike. I have met a number of such friends on the Internet and some I have an instant joining others were just friends. Here in England I have friends that are wonderful but are just a friend, and then I have others that are like another part of me, that I would miss terribly if they were not around.
I believe that we all have soul mates, and that we meet them through our lives. I asked a number of friends and colleagues to describe a soul mate to me and everyone came back with two people who meet each other and instantly feel as if they have known each other for years and fall in love instantly' interesting. We all love to believe in the white knight, or the soul mate and the beginning of the relationship gives us those wonderful feelings, however the truth is that to have a soul mate you need to work at the relationship, my mother and father are I believe soul mates, they have been married 30 years, love each other intensely, know each other intimately, feel each others emotions. To me this could be summed up as the true meaning of a soul mate where two people become as one through time and patience. Accepting the good and bad and not running away when the relationship starts to seem stale. My boss has been divorced three times and he once said to me the one thing I do realize is that you yourself will never change, the grass might seem greener but you will still do the same things, because you are you' he was observing that another chap had run off with a young woman and for a while had partied, they had married and now he eats the same lunch in the same lunch box, moans the
