What animals can teach us

Animals can teach us plenty of things, good or bad. Just like my pet cats that have many different characteristics and attitudes.

I had this wonderful & lovable white feline named Dwightie who has green eyes. She was just a stray cat gotten by my dad. When she was first seen by my dad, she was very dirty. So I bathed her and she became white as snow. Now I've learned a lot of good things from her. One thing is concentration, or should I say focus. When she would see a bird, she won't take her eyes off it. And by doing that, she succeeded in capturing the bird. But it's kind of sad that she captured a BIRD. But with her focus, she always catches rats & shows her accomplishments. That's why I, myself, would concentrate well with my studies to accomplish my goals.

Now when Dwightie became a big cat and already mates with toms (male cats are called tomcats), she got pregnant and gave birth to her first litter. She bore this sociable and nice cat with colors that are mixed white with black. He is also a master, I mean, a professional in hunting rats and birds. However, one of his characteristics or attitude which is not good is his loss of focus (I don't know why he wasn't like his mom). We fed them one day and all the cats readily started eating after the food was poured in their bowl. But Bunky still turned around, finds a way wherein he would be able to eat alone, then turns again and ate. But of course, the other cats have already started eating so there isn't much food left for him to eat.

Another one is they (cats) give us their complete trust. I can see it with my cats. At night, we used to let them sleep outside so they tend to be awake also in the night. I think they felt they are not safe outside so they stand on guard. But in the morning, when we open our door, they will come in and there they will sleep soundly like they have no care of the world. So I think they felt safe and knew that no one inhabiting this house is going to hurt us.

The greatest thing that I've learned from my cats is their loyalty and faithfulness. It would really make you feel happy when your pets meet you and welcome you at your doorstep every time you come home from work or from school. Bunky really showed us (specially my dad) his faithfulness. My dad used to wake up very early in the morning to read his Bible. He went outside for a breath of fresh air and he saw Bunky near the gate where he is so serious about something. Dad went to him thinking that he might be up for something interesting. My cat (Bunky) never transferred his attention and was still so serious and stared at something. My dad tried to carry him away from that spot. Then suddenly, a snake came dashing away from my cat & dad (maybe the snake thought he would have his chance to escape from the piercing paws of Bunky). Then my cat went after it. My dad then really thanked that Bunky was there to protect him and the house from that snake. That's why I could say that, "Dogs, as well as cats, are man's best friend."
