Testimonies: Positive birth stories

I remember my mom asking "What age do you want to be when you have your first child"

"Twenty six" I replied.I don't know if this is coincidental but the first child I conceived

was the age of twenty six.The first three months I was pregnant I didn't even know I was,

I wasn't gaining weight or didn't have any of the other spectacular symptoms you get with

the beauty of pregnancy. My menstrual were attacking me regularly every month, but everyone else

seemed to know I was. They kept saying have a test done you are expecting. Finally during the

third month of pregnancy I finally took a test. The test from the local drug store revealed

negative,so out of curiosity I went to my obgyn for results. After what seemed longs hours of

waiting in which was about 20 Min's. My doctor said"Well young lady, you indeed are three months pregnant.I was so astonished with joy. The excitement rushed through my veins and caused my adrenaline to rise.I hugged my doctor and screamed" O my God! I couldn't wait to go tell everyone else,my family and friends.During this time I ate mostly french toast thats what I craved! The due date was posted on or around mothers day of 1988.The closer it became the more nervous I became.Though I experienced no problems through my pregnancy,I guess it would be a normal reaction for a first time expectant mother. On February 14th 1988 I was giving the news"Your baby is no where near ready to enter the world"I was then told maybe the following week.I was tired and miserable.I gained 80 extra pounds and felt as huge as an elephant. At the end of February the 26th in fact I finally felt real labor pains and lost the protective sac in the toilet.I timed the pains which were like 10 Min's apart, the sensation as if someone was twisting my abdominal area.I called the doctor he said wait till they are a little closer.About an hour passed and I rushed to the bathroom while in the bathroom I lost the protective sac that surrounds the baby.I returned to my mother who was sitting on the sofa watching TV and said relaxed and conservative"mom we have to go to the hospital I am having the baby. She thought I was joking until she saw the surprising gift I left in the toilet. She danced around excitedly and got the little things she needed before me and my baby's father left the house and drove to the hospital. When I arrived at the Hospital my doctor was waiting. He joked and said "you are finally gonna pop! I smiled and replied " I surely hope so"

I was in labor till February 27th at 7:45pm when I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy 8lbs and 12 oz.After I gave birth it seemed the pain I did feel I no longer felt, due to the excitement of giving birth.Though I carried my baby for a few extra weeks in my womb it was well worth the joy I experienced on that special night of delivery.
