Essential after prom tips

by Sarah Huth

Created on: May 10, 2008

While most people decide to have some sort of crazy after prom party, others may find themselves completely exhausted once the dance floor closes and the music stops playing. You've spent the past few months shopping, preparing, stressing out over your date, and now you've spent the entire night dancing and laughing with your friends. Having some sort of after prom celebration directly after prom would be much less enjoyable than having it the next day, since you're probably much more likely to want to take off your shoes, curl up in bed, and finally get some sleep! Waiting until the next day to have an after prom get together with your friends, if done right, can be much more enjoyable than going from one party to the next on prom night.

For one thing, there's much more to do the next day. Most proms end around midnight, and while going to some wild party and getting completely drunk might seem like the "cool" thing to do, is that really how you want your prom night to end? That's generally how must prom night horror stories begin. You'd also be more likely to ruin your dress, lose your camera or phone, and ruin the amazing night that you've just had. By waiting until tomorrow, you're opening the doors to a ton of fun new things that you and your friends can do that you would've be able to do directly after prom.

So what exactly can you do? Depending on how much money you want to spend, a lot. You could rent a cabin with a bunch of friends for the weekend and take a group camping trip. Depending on where you live, you could drive into the nearest city and spend the day going to art museums, shopping around, eating out, and hanging out in trendy coffee shops. You could check out a baseball or football game, then do dinner afterwards. Suggest taking a group trip to the nearest zoo or amusement park, or if you're close enough, to the beach. You could even just go on a big group picnic in the park the next day; make sure to bring a frisbee! If going out and doing things isn't really your thing, you could throw a party at your house and spend the day looking at prom photos and talking about the night with your friends.

The bottom line is, there is much more to do after prom if you wait until the day afterwards. Going out and drinking or heading off to a crazy party is just going to wear you out even more, and probably leave you with a nasty hang over at the very least. So go home, put on some comfy clothes, and rest up for the next day!
