Inexpensive gift ideas from a single mother

Talking about gift ideas is a complicated matter. You have to take into consideration a lot of things such as; For what occasion? For whom? For what purpose? How much?
Everybody likes receiving gifts and giving gifts is not just giving, it has to have a meaningful message in it. Gifts are more worthy and meaningful when it comes from the heart and not a show off. The price is not the most important aspect of gift giving. What counts most are the precious thoughts you have etched in those wrapped gifts you give away to your loved ones.

As a single mother, I could understand how hard it is to make ends meet. With all the rising prices of goods, you seem to be always making revisions in your budget plans. And if you put some extra expenses to buy gifts, that would be adding a gram of worry to your already fixed budget. Gifts are often excluded from budgets so it is wise to think of gift ideas that are inexpensive but worthy.

A gift that is created from the heart, mind and hand is the best gift that no amount of money could match. If you make a gift on your own, it would be easily appreciated and accepted with warmth and gratitude. The mere thought you exerted in creating that simple gift is considered a very precious thing.

Today, on Mother's Day as I sit in front of my computer, I thought a simple hand made card is the best gift a mother would receive on Mother"s Day. Everybody knows how to create a short, simple poem. Create your own poem expressing how much you love and care for your mother. Mothers feel loved with a simple gift from the heart. It's like a caress that smoothens away the slights and flaws of yesterday. Paste a picture of yours beside the poem, stuff it in an envelop and give it to your mother.

Comes Father's Day, find some scrap materials at home and make a soft cushion for father to sit on his car as he drives to and from work. It would ease him on his seat and he would treasure that simple gift you gave him.

Gifts for Christmas and New Year are harder to plan. What with all those, family, friends, office mates, relatives, neighbors, etc. to give gifts. But cards are indispensable gift items that are always appreciated. Cards could be bought or hand made by you. Look around you and you could find countless objects that you could use to make a card. A small fallen leaf, a dried flower, a few twigs and you could create a surprisingly nice card. Use a glue stick to paste the objects into a linen paper. Use your creativity to have a nice design of your own liking. Cards maybe just pieces of hard papers but they go a long way to express the meaning of any occasion.

As a teacher, I always let my students make a card for their loved ones in occasions like Christmas and Valentine's. Children love creating their own magnificent designs on linens, sticking whatever thing they had in mind to add beauty to their creations. Anyone who would receive the cards would feel happy having them. The effort and thought exerted in the cards give more meaning to the gift idea.

I love receiving flowers and cards on Valentine's Day. I am not a very materialistic person but I am romantic and sentimental. A single rose for Valentine's Day can do. A red rose means romantic. Yellow symbolizes warmth and harmony. Violet means love at first sight and white stands for gratitude and purity. Roses are of different colors but colors really don't matter for as long as they are given heartily.

Always bear in mind that giving is something that springs from the heart. It is not how expensive the gift is but the little thoughts given that counts.
