Retirement is everyone's dream come true ~ OR IS IT?
It seems when you finally take the big step to "retire" you suddenly fall victim to " time".
I am beginning to think that maybe we just don't manage it as well when we think we have plenty?
Someone once told me that TIME was the only thing that each of us have the exact same measure of in a day.
Then they smugly added: What we do with our TIME is the" measure" of the kind of person that we are.
I think they call this our "Character."
I don't know about you, however, Robert and I just can't seem to fit in what we really need to do, so it has to be put on tomorrows list.
Some emergency always crops up. We have the best of intentions of doing everything that is on our "list" and then it never fails ~ "something" will rear it's ugly head and the list is set aside for another time.
The "Doctor Factor "is something we all have to look at in retirement.
Doctors seem to want way more than what they should of us.
Does the following sound familiar to you?
Now I know why I just usually do not go to doctors. I have been blessed with such good health and I give God the honor and glory for this. HOWEVER, my friends all insisted I go for a "check up" because when you are on Medicare they now have a plan to "keep you well" by providing certain tests for preventive medical problems.
So I made the appointment. Sure enough ~ Even though my blood test came back perfectly fine ~ No high blood pressure, no cholesterol problems, my triglycerides are normal ~ and I don't have gout ~ or dementia or Alzheimer's and my carotid arteries are not clogged up (maybe because I never smoked ~ (however, must confess this good ol southern cooking I grew up on insisted on a LOT of cooking oil (well grease) and collards and turnips and corn bread are just not all that tasty if you don't add some good ol "fat back" in them) so listen to this ol' southern gal ~ a little fat in the diet is GOOD FOR YOU! lol Has to be ~ look at me.
The doctor even told me he couldn't believe that I was as "old" as I was! HOWEVER,
~~~ Well, you guessed it ~ The doctor found a minute" bit of blood in my urine and he insisted I see a "Urologist" because of my age ~
That young whippersnapper best watch his mouth!
I am convinced that this is part of our karma if there is such a thing ~
I had to drink this horrible drink the night before and then the nurses aid stood and watched while I downed the last pint of it at the Medical Center
