It's late at night, your feet are swollen from dancing, your face is greasy and gross, your hair is full of pins and curls, you're on an emotional let down after all the festivites have ended and the only thing you can thing about right now is collapsing into bed. However, before you let that rock-hard 'do hit the pillow, there are a few things you should do to ensure that your sleep is long and deep.
TAKE OFF THE FACE
Let's face it, if you're a girl you probably caked on the make-up for this special night, that should be the first thing to wash off. Use an oil eliminating make-up cleanser that works with your skin type (most will say whether they are suited for dry, normal, or sensitive skin)and work it into a lather with warm water. Move your hands in gentle circles over every part of your face making sure to push the lather into your hair line. There is no need to scrub extra hard, that can irritate your skin, instead you may have to cleanse twice to remove all of your make-up especially if you use heavy foundation. Some women find that a toner is useful for removing the last bit of oily residue. For that stubborn eye make-up, try using Vaseline to remove. Vaseline is gentle on your eyes and it won't sting if you get it too close to your eye. Finally, blot your face dry with a clean towel and use a light moisturizer all over your face.
DEMANGLING THE 'DO
First and foremost, you need to remove that plethora of bobby pins that have been jabbing your scalp for the past few hours. Once all the hair accessories have been removed, DO NOT BRUSH! The hairspray, gel, and other products that are holding your hair together can also make it break easily if you try to run a hairbrush through it. I would recommend hopping into the shower and just washing everything out (this would feel good anyway after a night of dancing). If you detest going to bed with wet hair, try pleating it into a simple braid, in the morning you'll have gentle waves. If you're truly too exhausted to even consider the shower, sprintze on some detangling spray or a leave-in conditioner (I'd suggest Aussie) so at least your hair can begin to relax while you sleep. You may want to cover your pillow with a towel so that your hair won't leave a sticky residue on your pillow.
REVITALIZE YOUR BODY
Whether or not you made healthy eating choices at prom, often you still feel bloated after removing your uncomfortable clothing. A simple solution to this problem that will help you feel better in the morning (especially
