Ten pound eight onces this was the weight of my first baby girl on May 8, 1965. Nausea came with the darts that aimed for my guts every morning from five until bed time for six months of my pregnancy.

Trinidad and Tobago never had the luxuries of free medications not then or now. As a matter of fact patients were not encouraged to consume medications of any kind bad feelings in the stomach."

Not only because of non-existent availability of medications there are no medical insurance plans.
But because of the non- existent medications shelf life to tract expired dates.
Because of the concerns regarding the cost to declare contents of the parcel at the Department of Customs and Excise.
The Post Office fixed charges chemists had to pay exorbitant prices for Imported Goods.

"I experienced "Nausea from morn until dust non-stop. This was my plight when I became pregnant in 964 the only fruit which turned into my daily nutrition condiment were slices of Watermelon. Fortunately, Trinidad has an all year round supply of water melon harvests. Farmers set up their watermelon stands six o'clock to midnight in San Juan, Trinidad."

What I have discovered about watermelons are facts that medically kept my nausea under control.

I could not stand the sight or smell of foods for the nine months therefore the cost of the Mellon diet was the sum total of the purchases I would have made for the four food groups purchases.

"There is no other fruit as water filled as the water melon. Diet Power has declared watermelon one of "The 10 Best Foods." Its delectable flesh has no cholesterol and virtually no fat (almost none of which is saturated)-a stellar accomplishment for a food often served as a dessert at picnics. Watermelon is an excellent source of potassium and vitamins A, C, and B6. It's also a good source of water (that's why the things are so heavy), so you can chew your way to getting your daily H2O requirement. "
Note: *Recent research shows another wonderful characteristic: Watermelon contains more leucopenia than any other fresh fruit or vegetable. Leucopenia, besides being the red pigment that gives the flesh its color, is an antioxidant known to prevent cancer. Studies have shown that people who get lots of leucopenia have a lower risk of prostate, uterine, and esophageal tumors. The fruit of the Catullus landaus vine has had this power for thousands of years. Watermelon was recorded in ancient Egypt, and has been a staple of both food and water in Africa and Asia. (With a water content of 92 percent, it's not called watermelon for nothing.) "

New Miracle Drug: Watermelon By Janet Ford, Diet Power Senior Editor

Now I understand why when I gave birth to my first baby girl she was in the pink of health as a watermelon flesh above.
I also understand now that the water in the water melons quenched my thirst and supplied the needed liters of water my body needed to supplement the child's intake of fluids.

A large slice of watermelon per day kept nausea away and doctor's diagnosis "Why is your baby complexion so Pink?"

I have suggested to my daughters to eat lots of watermelons.
