DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Domestic violence does not see gender, color, or race. It affects many people no matter what their sexual preference is. When one suffers from any sort of violence whither it be physical or emotional, it is hurtful. Not only does it break a person down and lower their self esteem in most cases, but they may also fear talking about it.
There are just about as many domestic violence acts in the gay, lesbian, or bisexual community as there is on heterosexual relationships. It is never alright for another person to put someone else down no matter if they are in a relationship or not. The golden rule, Do Onto Others As you Would Have Them Do Unto You, should be a thought everyone remembers all the time.
No one would like to the receiver of any sort of abuse and it is never right. Even if you are mad at someone that does not give you the right to belittle them or physically hurt them. Many people may think domestic violence in the gay, lesbian, or bisexual community is nothing to worry about since it same sex. That however is not true!
NO ONE DESERVES TO BE ABUSED!
The only reason anyone would even think of abusing another is simply a power trip. That person wants to maintain the control in the relationship. There is never a time where one should control anther whither they are in a relationship or not. Every relationship needs to maintain a 50/50 balance to be a healthy relationship for both partners.
In the gay, lesbian, and bi communities domestic violence is something they do not like to talk about to much. They want to brush it over and pretend it does not exist, but it does. The abused victim probably is afraid to talk about the abuse of of fear or just more problems. It is hard enough to come out, let alone talk about abuse with a same sex partner.
Everyone has rights and anyone abusing another is wrong. There is never an exception! People tend to believe the abuse must be mutual since they are same sex, but this again is not true! Just because a couple is same sex does not mean they are equal in size, power, strength, and even mentally.
One person can easily dominate another and take advantage of the situation when they know they are stronger then the other. For some reason people tend to not take domestic violence serious when it comes to same sex couples. If you should ever witness any sort of domestic violence you should call for help. Do not get involved because the person may hurt you as well.
Just as heterosexual people face problems lesbians, gay and bisexual face problems. There is far to much abuse all throughout the world and not just with heterosexual couples. There needs to be people that are willing to help anyone who is abused by a partner. Keep an open mind and an open heart.
If there are more people in this world willing to help each other out regardless of their sexual preference, it can help anyone who is abused.
