We are each and everyone responsible for the world we inhabit, however there is more to this than those words. The greatest serial killers ever known are the tobacco companies, and here is where the primary focus need be placed. It is irresponsible for Government to focus their ire on the smoker, for they allowed this to happen in the first place. In California smoking taxpayers are barred from public buildings, and as long as they paid their taxes this is a violation of their basic citizen rights. If they are barred from these structures they should not have to pay the taxes involved in these buildings construction or upkeep.
It is a matter of personal choice to smoke, it should be a matter for criminal prosecution to promote and sell this product. If any American citizen wishes to smoke let them grow it themselves and do so within the privacy of their own lives.
Once again we have misplaced the focus of this debate, for the smoker is the effect, and in the logical world cause should always be the focus. The tobacco companies have caused this situation and it is they who should bear the brunt of the punitive effort. That this is not the case clearly shows our Government to be in thrall to money, and failing their primary charge which is as servants (civil servants) of, "We the people".
Yet it is hard to blame them for truth be known, once again it is our fault. Remember these wordsI am sure you have heard them before, "Government of the people, by the people, and for the people," and our failure to enforce this power brings the chickens home to roost. It is very easy to view the person who is responsible for all the problems of this great nation, merely look them up in the mirror.
Anytime you ask somebody else to address the problems of your lifeyou shall be disappointed by the result. We are the foundation upon whose back rests the entire structure, and even more powerful we out number them nine to one. When we decide to address the disparity of values in this nation it is fait accompli.
Logic, balance, fairness, kindness, human values, all of the words which sing with beauty these must be the lubricant used to smooth the working of our society. The old values of hate, blame, violence, cheating, greed, these must be exorcised from our society. Whole structure approach, for if we continue our current path of repairing the potholes (problems) we shall continue on this highway which leads to where we do not wish to go. If the road you are on leads to where you do not wish to gotake a different road.
Change, while feared, should not be for it has been the catalyst in the advancement of humanity for all of history. While it seems I digress, that is not the case for society is a ball of twine and each layer leads to the next, and it vital we not focus too long on the layer, and never quit focusing on the ball.
