Financing College
I think it is a very good investment in the government helping our fellow students with financial problems they may be having. Not all Students have the luxury of mommy and daddy's money or the grandparents, but to be dependent on the government is just ridiculous. You can get a loan, and that would be helpful with tuition, books, and costs of living. Yes, there are other things you have to get by with (like shopping or going to the movies, etc.), but you can't expect the government to pay for your every need or want. They have bigger fish to fry, I mean there still is a useless war going on and we do have a pretty big debt with the other part of the world.
I get the point that the government cares about everyone's education, but it doesn't mean they have to pay all of our ways into college to get to our future careers. If the government paid for everything every person in the United States would do nothing and expect the government to pay for them all their lives. The government helps people out, but they don't support you for life. They help you out so that in the future you can get a good job, hopefully, and pay back all you have taken from them. They do expect in return what they give out.
I admit, I have been helped out by the government with financial things like medical, but I really plan to repay that when I pay my way through college (more than likely with loans and working really hard) I will repay the money I have gotten from the government. Everyone who has a job and gets a paycheck will end up paying the government their share of taxes. We are all very lucky to get that money back at the end of the year because a lot of us can really use it.
I do believe a lot of us also have some sort of college fund, and I do believe that some of us who have that fund have spent some of that fund. Why spend that fund when you know you will need it? Well, you might need it, then where will you be when you are in college and need that money, but you won't have it. That is why some expect the government help pay for you college expenses. So, why don't you stop spending your college fund (unless you really need it), and you can use that college fund money for college!
Now, are we all happy?
So my point exactly is that if everyone expected the government to pay their way through college they might as well expect someone to pay their way all their life. ( This does not regard to the people who succeed in life and repay all they have taken!)
