I love gift baskets, and I love to give them! They are a simple and fast way to give someone special a nice gift that has a lot of thought put in to it. Especially, if you pick a theme for the basket that matches the recipient's tastes and hobbies. Here are some examples of gift baskets any mom would love to receive, I know I would.

The Home Spa Basket

This is a basket of goodies that Mom may not ordinarily indulge in herself, but it's sure to please. If Mom has a favorite line of skin care of fragrance then your job is even easier, just run with her favorites. Depending on your budget, choose a container. I would suggest for a small gift basket choosing a pretty wicker basket that will fit on her bathroom vanity, if you are going to go whole hog, a pretty tote bag will hold many items including a terry cloth bathrobe and slippers. Add bath salts or bubble bath, body wash, lotions, a nice bath sponge and a scented candle. If your budget allows, a gift certificate for a massage or hair styling is a nice addition.

The Tea or Coffee Basket
Use a basket or pretty container that can be useful for serving the treats included in this basket. Add Mom's favorite Teas and or some fancy coffees, scones, biscuits, cookies and a pretty mug. Voila! Easy as pie.

The Gardener's Companion Basket
A nice size watering can makes the best container for this basket. You can personalize it by painting Mom's name on it too! Add flower and/or vegetable seeds, a couple of new hand tools and gloves. A pretty cap to keep the sun off of Mom's face will be appreciated as would a gardening book.

The Cook's Basket
If Mom loves to cook this is a really nice idea. Get a large colander and fill it with treats for the kitchen: pot holders, exotic spices, a cookbook you think she would like, a new tablecloth to match her kitchen decor, a couple of utensils she may not have or that need replacing. You can also use a cookie jar if she bakes and add to that muffin cups, mini loaf pans and such. On the high end you can purchase a beautiful new stainless stock pot and use that for the "basket."

The Hobby Basket
These are fun and easy to make. If Mom knits, an open basket filled with new pretty yarns and a new pattern book. If Mom likes to paint or draw, a pretty metal container filled with new paints of her liking, sketch pad and pencils. A sporty Mom would appreciate a gym bag filled with new socks, a head band perhaps, towel, earphones for the gym TV and perhaps a gift certificate to her favorite gym or new pair of shorts and t-shirt to exercise in.

The Fun Basket
Pick any container you like as long as it's useful, a nice idea might be a magazine rack. Add a book by Mom's favorite author that she doesn't have, movie tickets for Mom and Dad or a friend, theater tickets if you can afford them and or a gift certificate for dinner. You can add a lot of different things to this basket. If she loves the beach, a new beach tote filled with a new towel, sun tan lotion and a mystery novel, or fold that all up and add it to the rest of the "Fun Basket." You can even personalize this with a coupon book of fun things you promise to do with Mom!
