You think you got your life all planned out in front of you and there is nothing standing in your way. All you dream of is succeeding and becoming someone that will make a difference to the world. You plan to erase the monotony of the world and just live your life. As you fall asleep every night, you picture the dream house, perfect family, rewarding career, everlasting happiness and anything else that will make you the happiest and luckiest person in the world.
Suddenly, the walls are crashing around you and nothing you do can stop the destruction. Your perfect future life is under the rubble of the monotonous world that you were planning to change, but why? Why me? Is it so wrong that I wanted my life to be extra ordinary? It would not have happened with a click of my fingers. I was prepared to put a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get to that high point in my life. What am I meant to do now?
You no longer strive for perfection, you are happy with what you get and nothing anyone says to you can change your mind. The ambition, willpower and dedication is no longer there. Is it your fault?
Well, the answer to that question is not nearly as important, as what you can do to make it be the answer you want it to be.
1. Stand up and look at yourself. Don't feel sorry for yourself. There is at least one person somewhere in the world that is worse off than you are; someone who unlike you does not complain or expect other people to take pity on them. Everyday they wake up to that life and it has been like this ever since they were a baby. They do not ask questions or flaunt their situation. They still live their life and are not afraid to cry. Why? Because they cannot do anything about it, but you CAN!
2. Ask yourself this. Do I have four limbs? Five fingers on my two hands? Five toes on my two feet? Can I speak? Can I hear? Can I see? Do I have learning difficulties that I can do nothing about? Looking at a picture of the human body as god made it, do I look the same? I'm not talking about the dimensions of my waist and breasts or how shiny my hair is.
3. Start from nothing and build up. When you played with Lego building blocks and the structure toppled over, you started building again. It was just a game then. Is life not a game? You play then you lose some, win some and just keep on going.
4. Keep your head up and listen to yourself. Block out the negative commentary and gawking eyes. Believe in yourself, recognize your qualities, embrace what makes you special and motivate yourself.
