Cohabitation: Why people don't marry any more

Because a lot of them probably are from broken homes (where their parents were divorced), were previously married themselves, but then went through a bitter divorce, or they just don't want to make a lifetime commitment. They think that marriage is just a "piece of paper," and they don't need it to prove  they're committed to each other.

Well they're dead wrong! The Bible clearly condemns fornication. In fact, St. Paul  said to flee fornication. Dr. James Dobson, Focus on the Family, has said the divorce rate is even higher among couples who get married after first living together.

What also really bothers me is that couples who live together, not as husband and wife, are also having children out of wedlock! This I just can't accept! Later on down the road, the children tell everybody "My mom and dad are getting married."

I've said this before and I'll say it again until I'm blue in the face! Back in the 1930's, Loretta Young got pregnant with her daughter, Judy Lewis, from an affair with Clark Gable while making the movie "The Call of the Wild." Because she was a devout Catholic, to her it was a mortal sin. Back in those days, morals clauses were written into the stars' contracts, because if the studios ever found out their careers wold have been destroyed.

Also, when Ingrid Bergman left her first husband for Roberto Rossellini and became pregnant and gave birth to his child, she was denounced in Congress and called a "free love cultist." But eventually we forgave her.

But nowadays, this behavior has become an acceptable lifestyle. People have thrown away God's laws, especially when it comes to sex, marriage, family, and relationships and decide to do things their way. Well "their way" just doesn't work. Couples who live together, but not as husband and wife, do not get the same benefits as married couples. And they are not making a committed relationship. Only marriage is a committed relationship.

Most of the people who appear on the Jerry Springer and Maury Povich shows are mainly unmarried couples who live together and have children out of wedlock. Sometimes, they will show their "family" picture on the Maury show, but to me, this is not God's definition of a family. His definition of a family is a husband and wife with children; not a boyfriend and girlfriend with children. And I am also sick and tired of hearing these words: "my baby's mama", "my son's father", "my daughter's father", "pregnant girlfriend," and "pregnant fiancee." These people need to be told God's definition of sex, family, marriage, and relationships. They will simply have the baby first, then get married. Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Well anyway, God's Ways are still the best ways. We need to return to living by His Ways.
