Younger voters have, at long last, become conciously aware of their privilege to make their voices heard in the upcoming elections. It is heartening to witness their eager participation in the process of choosing a candidate whom they consider to be qualified to lead this country and, perhaps, right some of the so-called wrongs of the old administration. In years past, younger voters seemed to demonstrate a noticeable lethargy in a process in which their collective involvement was necessary, in order to let their voices be heard. It is, indeed, so delightful to see them use their privilege to speak out and expose certain deficiencies of the outgoing administration and let it be known that it is time to begin to alter the political and economic landscape to conform to the needs of citizens who feel that they are being denied certain rights to which they are entitled.
Just as older citizens feel the pinch of the sliding economy, those that are younger are also hurting. Regardless of their seemingly shortsighted views in certain areas of government, the fact that they are demonstrating a willingness to raise their voices is enough to prove that there is a limit to endurance and younger voters are not exempt from crying out in the midst of this country's economic and political malaise. with the hope that, by so doing, they might succeed in bringing about the change that they feel is long overdue.
There is a general feeling among certain older voters that, perhaps, desperation alone is causing younger voters to pick a candidate that might not have the experience to be the new Commander-in-Chief and that they are being deluded by mere rhetorical assurances. It is felt that they are confronted with a blind spot that could, perhaps, spell problems in the aftermath of the current tempestuous election. Yet, regardless of the circumstances, our system of democracy is tailored to accommodate all voters, as our founding fathers had meant it to be.
There might be a tendency among younger voters to lend credence to the particular candidate of their choice. It should be understood that it might take a long time before setting a messy house in order. But what is important is to initiate the process of bringing about the change that is necessary and for this, there must be a drastic rethinking of policies that might have to replace those that seem somewhat outdated.
