Testimonies: Wedding-day mishaps

Adult Chicken Pox

I went to Barbados for my honeymoon, however, a month before the trip my fianc and I visited the travel agent who informed us that we had to get the chicken pox inoculation which we did. We arrived checked in the hotel two days after my features began changing a black beautiful vixen with red blotches all over my face within twenty four hours there I was covered all over. What is happening to me? Here we are on our most beautiful senses time in my adolescence besides myself read blotches and patches all over my person as I moaned to my husband who seemed, at the time, to quite understand. In those days no one considered allergies and or being allergic to certain foods. Of course, the meals were prepared in a not familiar twist of seasonings to fit foreigner's pallets. Heck this was our honeymoon, home away from home for two weeks.

Since I had been to Barbados before at a youth group camp I had made a few friends with whom I felt confident to confide in. These friends dropped in to see us and to their horror, explained in their home accent. "Moiy, Moiy, my, my yough have got the c h I ken pox." Stupefied as I was this was not a joke. One friend summoned her grandma, to come to see me at the hotel "the village auntie May who knew every symptom, of every disease in the village natural medicine book." Of, course, it is chicken pox. Check out the hotel and come and stay at our place because you cannot fly back to Trinidad in the state your body is in.

My husband inquires if there was a doctor nearby in Barbados would be able to see? Answer. None. Explanation: We will call to see if the family doctor would see you, if not he will tell you what can be done. Aunty May called the doctor who advised there was nothing to be done but I will have to wait out the twenty one days in isolation. Aunty May was versed in symptoms and her evaluation was correct, chicken pox indeed.

Alone and physically separated from my husband was not a nice position to be in.
I should have gone to a psychic for advice. Unlike everyone else who enjoyed their honey moon, this is an abnormal situation to be in at age twenty five with chicken pox which disrupted my honey moon thrills turned into tasteless blah sensations pox in head as we sat far away from each other while I sat itching from my head to my toes.

My husband saw all the sights in Barbados where pirates hid in coves when they invaded the island of Barbados. In ancient days. The reefs in Bathsheba Bay down to the highest point in Barbados St. Phillips he had all the fun.

Aunty May soothed my itching festered body with solution made up especially by the chemist or pharmacist who said because I took the inoculation this was the incubating period. I got a month off work with a doctor's note and recommendation that I had to be totally blotch less, so that no one at work will get infected.

We had to have a delayed second honeymoon. Aye, May 8, 2008, today is my first daughter's 43rd birthday.
