An unknown author once said," My idea of housework is to sweep the room with a glance." Perhaps your perception of house cleaning is similar to the author's thoughts, but the fact is, we all need to do some house cleaning once in awhile. Listed below are a few tips to help you keep your house cleaned without too much effort on your part. Hopefully, glancing around the house will put a smile on your face.
1. Keep some cleaning supplies in several rooms in the house- Have a spray bottle of window cleaner in each bathroom, in the kitchen and in the laundry room. This allows for a quick spray of window cleaner on a smeared mirror or smudged window.
2. Keep paper towels in your bathroom for wiping hands instead of hand towels- I learned this great idea from a friend of mine who had six children. It's time to eliminate the germ infested hand towel. Install a paper towel holder next to your bathroom sink so your family and guests can simply wipe their hands on a paper towel and throw it away. This will keep your bathroom germ resistant.
3. Replace your traditional broom with a lightweight electric broom- There are some very powerful electric brooms available nowadays. These electric brooms make sweeping up the kitchen and dining room a snap. Many models can be used on wood floors, too. Just dump the dirt and dust out of the bag free filter and you're finished. Plus, the kids love using these electric brooms and will often volunteer to sweep-you can't be that.
4. Create a list of daily, weekly, monthly and yearly cleaning jobs in your house-Making this list will help give you an overview of what needs to be cleaned in your house without overwhelming you. I created list years ago and I keep it on my computer for reference and periodical updates. This is what my list looks like:
Daily cleaning-
Trash taken out
Unload dishwasher
Load dishwasher
Sweep floor in kitchen and dining room
Wipe off counters and stove top
Weekly cleaning-
Vacuum carpeted stairs
Vacuum hallways and bedrooms
Vacuum living room and family room
Clean bathrooms(wipe mirrors,clean sink,counter,toilet,mop floor)
Sweep and mop kitchen, polish counters, wipe microwave and fridge
Shine front of stove and dishwasher
Clean animal cages
Change sheets
Outside-
Cut grass
Weed whack
Blow off decks and sidewalks
Monthly-
Wipe fingerprints off walls
Clean carpet spots
Bath dog
Yearly-
Wash windows
Vacuum molding around rooms
Vacuum under sofa and chair cushions
I hope these suggestions have provided you with some practical tips to help keep your house clean.
