WHY LIFE?
A young woman contemplates suicide; then chooses Life over Death.
Why do I want to die?
I, so young, so tender?
I feel I have no choice
But to surrender
To the cold hands of wintry Death.
Life lies so bleak before me
Since he went away.
He was my God,
He was my everything.
I know;
I was wrong to make him my God.
Now he has gone, and I must stay
And wallow in my grief,
Or choose another way.
No Lord, I do not want to die!
I have done nothing yet.
I have so many things to do;
So many places to see;
So many songs to sing,
And then
My children to bring.
No Lord, I do not want to die.
I want to live!
