Restaurant reviews: Chili's Restaurant

You know how they say insanity is defined as doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result? Well I must be insane because I have been to 3 different Chili's Restaurant's in 2 different states a combined total of 5 times. NEVER, as in NOT ONE SINGLE TIME, have I gotten good service or food.

Trip number one was in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. This was probably the closest to decent I have ever experienced at a Chili's. The food was poorly-seasoned leaving it bland. The waitress apologized on the chef's behalf. I wish I could have that experience again.

Trial number two was at a stop in southern Virginia. It was somewhere near Roanoke but I'm not sure where because I was just passing through. I had a snotty waitress who complained because she put the wrong dressing on my salad. I didn't complain about it; I merely pointed it out. I was fine with the ranch instead of Italian. But she snatched the salad away, stormed off and literally threw another one down in front of me, this time with French dressing. I didn't bother to bring it up again. Needless to say, she didn't get much of a tip.

The third time wasn't a charm. It, along with tries four and five, was in the little town of Staunton, Virginia where I lived for about two years. The first time I visited this particular Chili's, my wife and I had just begun dating and I thought it would be nice to take her out. This is where she wanted to go and warily I accepted. This time I wish the food had been bland because whatever they seasoned it with washold on, horrible isn't strong enoughGod-awful! Yes, that's what I'm looking for. It was some sort of chicken but it tasted like a poorly seasoned steak and looked like beef.

The fourth time I went was my second trip to the one in Staunton, Virginia. Again, my now-wife wanted to go. And since her food had turned out okay the last visit, I decided to go and just try something else. This time I ordered a steak cooked rare (back when you could still do such a thing) with a side of fries. It took an hour and that should have been a good clue something was wrong. The steak was well-done and the fries weren't even half-cooked. The waitress noticed the steak when I cut into it and offered to take it back. I accepted only because my wife's order wasn't done yet. The second time it came out it was well-done again. She took it back without asking and I had to wait another 20 minutes to get a third, still well-done steak. Before she could take the
