The firefox web browser allows users to change the size of the text that appears web pages to suit thier personal viewing requirements. Users with poor vision will benefit from larger text that is easier to read, whilst users who wish to see more text at once can reduce the size of the text so that more of it can be displayed on their screen at a time.
It is extremely easy to increase and decrease the size of text on a web page, and it is just as easy to restore it back to it's default size.
You will find the text size settings in the "view" menu of your firefox window. You can increase, decrease or reset the size of the text by selecting the appropriate option from this menu, or by using firefox's built-in keyboard short-cuts. The short-cuts are simple and easy to remember. They are as follows:
Control and the "+" key to increase the size of the text.
Control and the "-" key to decrease the size of the text.
Control and the "0" key to reset the text to its default size.
You can increase or decrease the size of the text several times by repeating the keyboard short-cut or going into the "view" menu and selecting one of the text size options again.
Changes in font size affect only the website that you are currently visiting. If you visit a different page on the same website, firefox will remember that you have changed the size of the text for that website, and will display the text in the size that you chose. If you then visit a different website, you will see the default text size for that website. Once you have changed the size of the text on a particular website, you can leave that website and visit it again later, and firefox will remember your preferred text size for that site.
If you have more than one tab open, the new text size that you have chosen will only apply to the website that is open in the tab that you are currently viewing. If you want to change the size of the text for sites that you have opened in other tabs, you will have to change the size for each tab individually.
It should be noted that not all websites display well when the text size has been changed. This is due to poor coding practises by the website creator and is not a limitation of the firefox web browser. If you come across a website that is not usable with adjusted text sizes, you should contact the website owner and let them know that you are having problems.
