Writing on Constant Content carries with it a number of pros and cons which writers may not always be aware of.
Pros
1. Constant Content does put writers into contact with a wide range of buyers for articles, whether from publishers or people who wish to display the works of others on their personal web sites.
2. Depending upon what buyers are seeking, articles can be sold in a short period of time. A writer may be fortunate enough to sell rights to an article within the first week after an article has been posted.
3. Constant Content will only publish articles on its site that are of professional quality. There is no rating system in place. Instead, a number of editors select which articles are deemed good enough to be purchased through the site.
4. Full articles are not generally posted on Constant Content, further protecting writers' articles from being copied without payment being made.
5. Various rights are offered at Constant Content and, though there are price ranges set depending upon the word count of articles, writers get to choose the price of their articles for the various purchase rights offered. Usage rights are rights purchased for publishing an article only once, allowing other buyers to purchase the same article. Selling unique rights removes the article from the site since no one else is permitted to purchase it. Selling full rights allows buyers to change the article and they can even claim to have written it.
6. Writers who are also photographers or illustrators can also post their work on Constant Content and offer the sale of various rights.
Cons
1. Constant Content requires writers/account holders to have $50 built up in account earnings before transferring funds to Paypal. Sites such as Helium requires half that amount and yet has greater potential for increased earnings from contests or articles written through the Helium Marketplace.
2. Constant Content will deposit funds into Paypal accounts but writers/account holders will have to pay a fee for the service. However, such fees are waived when deposits are made into Paypal accounts by Helium.
3. When you sell articles on Constant Content, you don't know who bought your article. You know the rights that were bought and you can see the username of the buyer but you can't see any personal information that would enable you to contact the buyer.
4. There are no guarantees. When several articles have been deemed good enough to be sold and, even when articles have been purchased, if writers get too many rejection slips for future submissions, their Constant Content accounts will be suspended. No one will be able to view the articles that were accepted nor will buyers be able to buy articles they had planned to purchase. With no way to contact writers directly, it becomes frustrating for publishers and writers, especially when communication had been going back and forth before the two before the account suspension.
All in all, Constant Content is a great site to be a part of as long as writers don't make mistakes because it's similar to being given three chances at bat: three strikes, you're out.
