A little girl's silly laughter
a sound of swinging made
ice clinking in a glass
of homemade lemonade
My boy pretending he can fly
lying on the front porch swing
the sound of cartoons in the house
blending in with everything
The creaking of my rocking chair
and call of my wife's voice
to tell us that it's dinner time
and two kids race to get there first
These sounds around me daily
repeat like my favorite station
these are the unique things
I call my family meditation
that God loves to hear

an ocean of stars I wish would last
Dreams of drifting to new worlds
I enter the water as it begins
