Why great SEO may not help you at all

Great SEO works by the propagation of many different factors and signals designed by search engine developers. The purpose of Search Engine Optimization is to prepare your site for targeted traffic from the Web through search results. Optimizing your site is therefore not the overarching guarantee of success. The job of SEO is preparation for targeted traffic from search engines.

If you are looking for targeted traffic that converts into sales or, Business to Business (B2B)increase and connections, SEO is only the beginning.

Many confuse SEO with Search Engine Marketing or SEM. Search Engine Marketing picks up where optimization leaves off. Without a well optimized site marketing is useless to a site owner. These techniques were designed to work together to offer the site owner the most leverage in appealing to a global marketplace. Indeed, without marketing efforts following Search Engine Optimization, even the greatest SEO plan will not help you.

On the other hand, any effort a site owner has put into SEO is helpful. Knowledge is power and an SEO campaign whether the results were good or bad, will prepare you to go to the next level with a certain amount of confidence you previously did not have. At the least, you will not repeat the same mistakes.

To gain the most from SEO, a basic business plan or outline of your goals is crucial. If you don't know where your on line efforts are going, how do you implement a successful SEO campaign?

The purpose of great SEO is to make your site as useful and accessible to the user as possible. In other words, once landing on your site from search engine results, a user should not have to wonder what to do next or feel they arrived on the wrong site. Rather, they should feel a sense of accomplishment.

Moreover, Great SEO will not always convert into immediate sales. It is a long term commitment of making sure traffic from search engines find your site so useful, that the flow of traffic will become increasingly more targeted to what you have to offer.

Since SEO strategies are designed to optimize your site for success, it would be hard to fail unless the strategies are outdated, ill-designed for your site or, there is a poor knowledge of SEO guiding the campaign.

If you find your campaign was not helpful, assess the strategies that were used. An SEO campaign should be as uniquely targeted as the site where the strategies will be implemented. SEO works. The key is making sure you have the right strategies nailed down to give the best shot for what you have to offer.
