Gone
My lover's gone and left me,
I knew right from the start
That he had the power
To mangle up my heart.
I trusted and believed in him,
I thought his words were true.
But now he's gone and here I am
Sad, hurt, and feeling blue.
He was full of magic,
Blue eyes and slender grace.
I've never felt so joyful
As when gazing at his face.
His touch was warm and gentle,
His kiss was wet and strong.
When he held me I felt loved,
But my feelings were all wrong.
He filled my heart with wonder,
With his music and his song.
We danced the dance of lovers,
But now my days are long.
For now he has stopped calling,
I don't hear a word from him.
My eyes they fill with water
Swelling from their brim.
I never want to see him
As long as I may live
Because he stole away from me
All the love I had to give.
There is nothing I can say,
The words stick in my throat.
I loved him with all I am,
But now think he's a goat.
My lover's gone and left me,
I knew right from the start
That he had the power
To mangle up my heart.

Lost in a sea of faces.
