"Destroy the Robots! Avenge the Human Race!" This is the set up for Utraton by Puppy Games. You are a humanoid battle droid in a time when the human race has just been completely wiped out by evil killer robots. It is up to you to battle the four evil robots of the Apocalypse to avenge the extinct humans. As you progress through each level, there are many different kinds of robots for you to face on your way to your ultimate goal - the four bosses. There are bonus stages for you to unlock on your journey.
The gameplay is very arcade like. You start in the middle of the screen and robots appear around you. You click on them to shoot at them. Moving about the screen, you can pick up bonuses, shield upgrades or even smart bombs that will destroy everything on the screen. You feel like you are in an old arcade room playing a classic game.
The graphics are pretty outdated yet classic, similar to what you find on an old Atari game. This game is definitely for older gamers who want a trip back to their youth.
The music is fitting for the game; it has a Sci-Fi, spacey feel. The sounds of the explosions and bonuses are fitting in being old style and classic.
There isn't much creativity in this game as it is a throwback to older generations of games. It is the same look and feel of the games of yesterday with a new story attached to it.
I felt there was nothing innovative about it. The gameplay and controls are like the other games with this old style feel. The music was typical. And the setup was what you expect from an arcade like game like this. It seems like the creator put that into the background and storyline of the game but lacked the ability or creativity to do anything new with their idea.
I would not buy this game merely because it is the style of game that I play. I would definitely recommend it for someone who still appreciates old school games. I would still prefer it to have better graphics, but that would probably ruin the feel the creators wanted.
This game was a two out of five for me. It is definitely not for someone looking for something new and thrilling.
