Poetry: Unspoken thoughts

by Theresa O'Riordan

Created on: May 08, 2008

I am reliving the iron age of my life

The burning youth

the eery familiar nature of that which does not fit

Is all fighting its way through the rust and remnants

the currents of life will erode us like this

To wonder about the past is to wish, and is based on the unfounded theory that things Could Have Been Different.

We do what we can with what we have. Regret is futile.

in times when the world is dark

and my blood needs to be cleansed of its sediment

i remember the Questions.

When I was younger,

when the wind through my hair was like a breeze through a grain field on a summer day

when the world would slow and hush for my sentiments and longing

when a look would say much and leave much to the imagination

begging for further exploration

why did i resist
