The American people obviously decided that they feel the Democratic Party is best suited for the Whitehouse in '09.When they elected Barack Obama as the President of the United States. As for my own opinion as to which political party is best suited for the Whitehouse.I voted for Obama. But I am troubled by the fact that both political parties have become in my opinion to Conservative on Economics and Civil Liberties.(Since Conservatives sometimes are advocates of a limited government that doesn't mail everyone's phone bill to the National Security Council.Perhaps instead of Conservative,I should say that both political parties today are to Reactionary.Maybe Conservative was the wrong word to describe the madness that is occuring in American politics today.)Back in the 1980's and early 90's,a person who wanted to cut income taxes, spend more money on weapons for the military, require welfare recipients to work for their benefits. But was against Privitizing Social Security, against eliminating overtime pay for working families, and only wanted voluntary prayer in public schools(Something that I am strongly opposed to.I'm against prayer in school period) was considered a Reagan Republican.

Today in 2008 that same person who wants to cut taxes, increase the defense budget, continue to have workfare programs, but keep Social Security intact, restore Federal overtime pay regulations, and have voluntary prayer in public schools, without a Federal offense of Faith Based Initatives, would be considered a,"Liberal".Yes we are in an era where even Barack Obama has called for expanding the Federal Government's Office of Faith Based Intiatives(Over the objection of real Liberals who worry about seperation of Church and State),Welfare recipients are already required to work for their benefits. And not a single Democrat in congress has even mentioned that Republican President George W.Bush sliced overtime pay for over 40 million Americans.

In this new extremely Conservative or if you prefer Reactionary economic and cultural era,the Reagan Republicans of the 1980's on some issues are actually to the Left of the current Democratic party. And if this current crop of 21st century Democrats are to the right of Reagan on seperation of Church and state and Overtime pay for working families. Then imagine how far to the right the current Republican party is.Which is why we Liberals still should vote Democrat. The roots of the current financial crisis come from the fact that Bill Clinton and some
