Car reviews: 2008 BMW X6

There is this perception that people in America do not like smaller cars. The BMW X6 certainly fits that profile, but is still a best selling item, thus by itself proving that the trend toward bigge, louder automobiles in this country is far from an absolute. And if compact is your MO,then this car simply cannot be beat.

THe BMW X6 is probably the best car you could possibly get for its price range. With its sleek exterior, comendable road holding abilities and ideal rearward visbility the 2008 X6 is an excellent model. If you are looking to spend between forty and forty five thousand dollars then this is probably the car you should look at first.

This is a great combination of earlier models 3-Series Coup and X5, and the new model also has new qualities such as a shortened, more compact model without suffering from a lack of engine performance. Not with a 230-hp, 3.0-liter inline-six and a 300-hp twin-turbo inline-six as the two available engines!

If we are to compare automobiles to weaponry one would have to say this little automobile is the equivalent of a sawed off shotgun.

The suspension on this model is very solid and overal;l results in the BMW tradmark "smooth ride". When tested the chassis shows its superiority with jackknife steering response and muffled body roll. This is probably the strongest element of this model.

Dynamic Performance Control lives up to its lofty name and provides one with a drive that is evenly distributed among the axels and delivers torque exactly to the side that needs it, making for a phenomenal ride. It is obviously a huge selling point.

The main drawbacks to this model are the cramp back back and the fact that they are relatively expensive to run. The lack of more than four seats in any model can be a problem depending on your lifestyle.

As far as cost, if that is a concern there are some inexpensive alternatives within this line, depending on the options you want with your X6. The entry level 3.0-litre 235bhp petrol models come as low as thirty five thousand dollars in certain areas.

Even though there is this perception among some that Americans do not like "bite sized" cars and think bigger is better, this is a growing sentiment among others that micro is in. I think that if you see the value of a smaller, more compact vehicle that this should be one of your first choices.
