Which country's food is the best? Why?

What do you know about the Bulgarian food? Nothing?! It is high time for you to read some interesting facts about food in Bulgaria! Bulgarian food can be very goodindeed, its wines light and inexpensive. Bulgaria is world famous with its delicious fruits and vegetables. Bulgarian cooking relies heavily on lamb, pork, potatoes, peppers, egg-plants, tomatoes, onions, carrots and ,of course, a lot of spices.

One of the interesting facts is that Bulgaria is world famous because of its yogurt. If you get the real thick, creamy home-made yogurt, it will never be the same anywhere else in the world. It is partly to do with the milk-which is better to be sheep`s, but it is also tasteful with cow`s milk- and the way it is fermented with the bacteria whose name Lactobacillus Bulgaricus shows its national origins. This ferment is a guarantee for good taste and healthful qualities of the yogurt. The Bulgarian yogurt has become an ingredient in japanese dishes as well. Yogurt has been part of the Bulgarian cuisine for thousands of years. Experience has taught the Bulgarians to use it in many ways. It makes a wonderful dessert when it is well-cooled and sprinkled with sugar. It may be also diluted with water, the so-called "Ayran". Bulgarian people drink this "ayran" for diluting the antibiotics, after drinking alcohol or after over-eating. Delicious, as well as refreshing, is Tarator, a cold soup of finely chopped cucumber, yogurt, dill and a little sunflower oil.

Kebapcheta are very tasty grilled minced-meat rolls, usually veal pork with lots of pice.

Giuvech is a kind of hotpot containing a variety of vegetables. The real thing is cooked and served in an earthenware dish.

Liver, rice and herbs are the basic ingredients of Drob sarma.

imam bajalda isa delicious cold vegetable dish made from egg-plant filled with finely chopped onions, carrots and tomatoes.

The Bulgarian seasonings are very important. The use of spices has had its history since ancient times. There are even spice-related expressions in the Bulgarian language. Some of these expressions are very funny. For instance:"parsley in every pot" which means: for someone who forces his opinion on everyone nd everything; " a peppery price" (this is because pepper was very expensive in the 15th century).

Typical of Bulgarian desserts are these usually in syrup, such as "baklava" or "kadaif". Also much eaten are pancakes with different jams, chocolate, cheese, yellow cheese, honey, etc., "mekitsi" (batter fried in deep oil), fresh fruit on the top of the cakes or as a combination with the ice cream.
