I look into the mirror
my baldness has gotten worse
The hairs left on my head are turning gray
is it that I'm cursed?
Small wrinkles have appeared
where smooth skin, once was in place
Am I really turning forty
and does that mean physical disgrace
Have I really lived half a life
and if so, what does that mean?
That my mid section will keep getting bigger
and my head, one day shaved clean?
Living, loving, and losing
maybe that's what this is about
Turning forty and not twenty
makes me sometimes want to pout
If I could do it all over again
what changes would I make?
Would I live my life the same way
or make all of those same mistakes?
I don't know the answers
to the above questions that I pose
but I look forward to the next forty
and this path that leads to the unknown

I'm twice that now and feel young and sporty.
I walk two miles most every day.
I do chores,
