My top comeback wishes in sports for 2008

I have many wishes for comebacks in sports. I wish that integrity would come back to the playing field. I wish that players would work hard to succeed and leave enhancement drugs alone. I wish that the players would value good sportsmanship. I wish that the athletes that appeared on our television screen would be worthy of our praise. However, I realize that this topic probably refers to the other kind of comeback in sports. The kind like when the Red Sox won the World Series and finally over came the curse of the Bambino. Yes, this sports fan digs that kind of come back as well.

Now let me see. The first come back that I would want is for the Rams to reign supreme once again on the football field. Kurt Warner was leading the mighty Rams down the field in an awesome fashion. It left the opponent wondering "how did they do that". Kurt Warner was praising God and showing my kid that dreams do come true even for an average box boy. Grant Wistrom was making us folks in the Ozarks beam with pride. Yes, indeed another Ram victory would be a great come back for me.

I wish that the St.Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Royals would once again play in the World Series. Once again us Missouri folks could beam with pride when talking about our talent in this area. George Brett and Ozzie Smith would be gone but some youngster would step up and dazzle the world in their place. I think that I would paint one side of my face blue and the other red. Who could pick, either way we win.

I wish that the summer Olympics would not have a cloud over it. I wish that Americans would stand and cheer in their living rooms every time that an athlete stood on the podium and listen to the National Anthem with tears in their eyes. I wish that athlete stood their because they worked hard and did not dope. I wish that younger version of Bruce Jenner would make us all proud to be American sports fans again. I also wish that baseball would return to the Olympics with fan fare and glory.

I wish that Micheal Jordan was ten years younger and entered the Building with the other Bulls every time they took the court. That smile and tongue every time he knew that shoot would land was priceless. I am a forty two year old grandmother and I even want to be like Mike. I just wish that today's basketball players had the desire to be like Mike in character as well as in talent.

Last of all I wish that our high school football coach from a few years back would make a come back to my home town. He took his players into his house to help them with homework. He made the run when they talked rude to their mother. He supported them every time one of them competed in any other event at school Yes, he was a cherished classic. That kind of coach is hard to come by this day and age. He really cared about the kid. He even benched his entire starting line-up for getting caught drinking. The town complained and he replied, " I care more about the kind of man they become than the football player that they are". Just a side note the Junior Varsity team won that game for those bench players by a sizable margin.
