NBA team profile: 2007/2008 Phoenix Suns

OVERVIEW

The Phoenix Suns ended the 2006-2007 season knowing two things- If they had beaten the San Antonio Spurs they would have won the ring- and two, they might not ever beat the Spurs. Complauin all they want about the refs, or the forearm or anything else- fact remains that they cannot beat the Spurs. The Suns also have an issue with star-in-the-making Shawn Marion, the second budding superstar to want out of Phonix to run his own team, and the people upstairs did not want a repeat of that episode. So on Febuary 6th the Suns Acquired Shaquille O'Neal from the Miami Heat in exchange for Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks

THE STARTERS (Phoenix used nine starting lineups in 82 games during the 2007-08 regular season)

C - Shaquille O'Neal - 13.1 points, 10.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.27 blocked shots as a Sun

Shaq started all 28 games he played in as a Sun. Shaq had seven or more rebounds in 26 of 28 games as a member of the Suns. O'Neal is a 14-time NBA All-Star and is the NBA's leading scorer among all active players. Shaq had also shot at least 55 percent from the floor in all 15 of his NBA seasons. Shaq became just the THIRD player in NBA history to score 26,000 points, grab 11,500 rebounds and block 2,500 shots (joining Kareem Abdul-Jabaar and Hakeem Olajuwon).

PF - Amare Stoudemire - 25.2 points 9.1 rebounds and 2.06 blocks per game

Amare started all 79 games he played in and was fifth in the NBA in scoring for the second year in a row, nineteenth in rebounds and sixth in blocks. Amare was the only NBA player in the top ten in scoring, field-goal percentage and blocks. Amare was one of only three players in 2007-08 ranked in the top 20 in scoring (team-high 20.4, 18th), rebounding (career-high 9.6, 9th) and field goal percentage (career-best .575, 5th). He is the lone Suns player to appear in every game last season, Stoudemire was a two-time NBA Western Conference Player of the Week. He is also the first NBA player since Tim Duncan in 2001-02 to average at least 25 points, nine rebounds and two blocks, and is one of only three players in the NBA averaging at least 20 points, nine rebounds and two blocks (Yao Ming, Dwight Howard).

SF - Grant Hill - 13.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game

Hill started 68 of the 70 games he played in and missed his fewest games since the 1999-2000 season, He is a seven-time All-Star and one of only three active players to average
