The Cruelty in Convenience

The year 2008. The issue? America's vast, and ever growing need for convenience. The faster the better, or so they would want you to believe. As I sat inside the cold, sterile waiting room in the local clinic, I had the time to do what I love to do best, people watch. Everyone there for the same thing, getting tested, or awaiting the results of their testing. From homosexual, to heterosexual, teenager, to middle ager, Black, White, Hispanic, and Multiracial we all had one thing in common, situation. All for the sake of convenience we found ourselves in the same predicament. I realized in that one instance that there was no such thing as monogamy, and if there was, it was slowly becoming as extinct as the Black Rhino, and not to mention, the problem being just as large. Relationships have become corporate America, High turn over, followed by the revolving door policy, one goes in, as the other goes out. This all leading to the recession of sexual health, habit, and habitual monogamy. In an age where sexual fetishes, and desires can be met with the click of a button, you can only imagine the gross perversion that is being created. Children are being exploited, teenage parenting is on the rise, women are contracting H.I.V, and STD's and a higher rate due to sexual deviancy by their supposed heterosexual male partners. While on the topic of, "Supposed Heterosexual male partner's," I feel, and I am sure I am not the only one, that these men who for what ever shame they feel it may cause, who refuse to come out of the closet, and keep their other lifestyle a secret, should be held accountable for any actions caused to the other party involved. Down low men are putting the lives of other's at stake due to their sexual indiscretions. This issue is becoming all to popular. For fear of shame by your loved ones or your community, you put another person's life in danger? Just come out of the closet, that seems to be the popular, and in thing to do nowadays. While on the subject of convenience, I love this time of year, election time. Is it me, or doesn't it seem convenient that the incumbents have nothing better to talk about then themselves, and the mudslinging they can do to one another? They went from the war in Iraq, to the ignorant rants of Reverend Wright. Has anyone yet to get to the real issues? Or maybe what will happen is that they will turn this into a gender/racial election, and that will keep focus off the real issues
