As a podcaster,I feel I should share with you. Here are some things you should consider to be a successful podcaster. So you want to a podcaster? Great. Do you have a topic? No, think of things you know or you would like to hear. Know a lot about pizza? Start a pizza podcast. interests are varied your podcasts about Pullip doll obsession may give you hundreds of listeners from all over the world.
Make sure this topic gives you enough to talk about on a semi-regular basis. Nothing is worse than finding an abandoned podcast.
Also think about doing your podcast with a friend, lover, or lots of friends. Podcasting is a fun group activity. Listeners often like hearing a two person podcast.
It also doesn't hurt to listen to a few podcasts before you begin I recommend Keith and the girl (www.keithandthegirl.com), MSFG (www.clickcaster.com/msfg) and SoccerGirl Inc. (www.soccergirl.podshow.com) Those are some good shows to give you a good feel for podcast's potential for funny.
Equipment is relatively easy, basically all you need is a way to record sound files and get them on your computer. Some folks opt for a costly professional microphones. Still some people use their MP3 players to record from anywhere.
The easiest way to get your podcast up is to use a podcast host like clickcaster.com or libsyn.com as the will provide with help on making that all important RSS feed.
Just upload your audio file and your good to go.
For those more tech savvy you can use blogger.com to upload your audio file and create your own RSS feed.
When you've got your podcast up and ready to go start submitting its URL to search engines. Itunes is another great place to submit your podcast to.
However you chose to do it, podcasting will be a rewarding experience.
