I find that as the seasons change, so do my recipes. Springtime is my favorite time of year for so many reasons...food being one of them. With food there is feeling. When the squash and zucchini come to the market shelves, I start to think of family BBQ's and family picnics. One of my very favorite recipes is "Grandma's Broccoli Salad." My Grandma taught me this one...she in California and me in New York, it is a dish to be enjoyed all over the world. With this recipe, you will need:
2 small bunches of fresh broccoli (raw -chopped)
1 C. sunflower seeds (salted and shelled)
1/2 C. raisins
1 small red onion (chopped)
6-8 strips of bacon (crisp and crumbled)
Dressing:
1 C. mayonnaise
1/4 C. sugar
2 Tbsp. Red Wine Vinegar
After preparing all the food items, put them all in a bowl. Prepare dressing in separate bowl. After dressing is mixed, pour over ingredients in bowl.
Mix well, chill in fridge, and get ready for one of the most refreshing salads you have ever tasted. Enjoy!
