There is an abundance of choice available when it comes to selecting Christian gifts for teens, but the primary consideration in the selection of a gift should be the personality and preferences of the teen in question. Regardless of the spiritual significance or worth of a gift, if it does not appeal to a teen, it is likely to be set aside and forgotten. On the other hand, a well chosen, appropriate Christian gift, can potentially enrich the life of the recipient.

Many specifically Christian gifts can be purchased from local Christian stores, churches, on-line or even in department stores. Generic gifts may be personalized, or associated with a Christian principle to give them deeper implication.

Some suggestions to consider:

MUSIC

Many teens derive great enjoyment from listening to music. Discover the favoured Christian musicians of your teen, or, if they are not currently listening to any, ask your local retailer for suggestions of Christian music that is similar in style to the teen's preferred secular bands. This would be an appropriate gift for Christian and non-Christian teen alike.

BOOKS

Be it fiction (Ted Dekker, Francine Rivers, Judith Pella) or non-fiction (Lee Strobel, Max Lucado), a riveting read will please the teen who loves to get lost between the covers of a book. Titles such as "The Case for Christ" may help teens in their personal walk and in explaining their faith to others.

INTEREST BASED GIFTS

Inspirational embroidery kits, jigsaw puzzles (Thomas Kinkade) and scrapbooking materials are just a few of the gifts readily available in department stores. Such items may be presented in raw form, if the teen has associated hobbies, or completed and given as a keepsake.

BIBLES

The number of study and themed bibles is continually increasing. Consider which translation would be most appreciated, or perhaps a paraphrase like The Message Remix. A bible is an invaluable tool for any Christian as it contains the words of life. An interestingly presented version may ignite new passion for discovery in a teen and lead to an increased fervor in devotional habits.

JOURNALS/DEVOTIONALS

Prayer or life journals are popular and beneficial to keep. Many commercial alternatives can be purchased, or a blank notebook could be personalized with a photo or written messages for the teen. In such an unassuming booklet, teens can record their prayers, hopes, worries and dreams and make note of the workings of God in their lives. This becomes a testament of God's goodness to them
