Religious contradictions

Throw Water on those Curtains!

"It's all in God's plan. All these things are happening for a reason, and even though we don't understand why, we must have faith."

Now, I don't know about you, but to me this is just a cop-out for not doing anything about anything. When starvation is prevalent in the third world countries, does God want us to turn a blind eye? After all, it must surely be in His plan, so why bother to help with charitable donations to the Red Cross, or other organizations?

When mankind has turned the world into a war zone, and is threatening to destroy our resources so that in time there will be nothing left for our children's children, don't worry, it's happening for a reason and we must all have faith.

If some dummy placed a candle by your curtains in the window and they began to blaze, threatening to catch your whole house on fire, don't worry. Have faith and fall on your knees and pray to God. If it is in His will, He will put the fire out. If it isn't in His will, you still don't have to worry, because though you lose your home, it is surely in His plan, and all you need to do is have faith.

More than likely, you will use a fire-extinguisher, or a bucket of water to put it out, and not try God's patience with your prayers. After putting the fire out, if you believe in God, you will probably thank Him for letting you notice the flames before it was too late. If you don't believe in God, you will probably still be thankful.

Shouldn't we be thankful, if we believe in God, that He is giving us a chance to notice the wrong-doings we have committed, so that we can try to change them?

I truly get irritated by the proclaimed believers, who are so full of themselves to think they are justified in turning away from humanity's shortcomings, but profess faith in God, yet DO NOTHING. Who are they trying to fool anyway? Themselves? It's ineffable.

Profanities!

It's alright to say darn, fudge, cripes, and any other word to take the place of what we define as profanity.

But aren't we being hypocrites to think that these words, because they haven't been listed as actual swear words, are appropriate substitutions? Isn't the mere fact that we are using them as substitutions an outright way of getting away with actually swearing? When I say darn, isn't it just a cover-up for the word, "damn"?

If I stub my toe, the word that will blurt out of my mouth is not likely to be darn. If I say cripes, what is it really implying? I think that making substitutions to curse words is just as bad as saying the real ones. A curse word is a curse word and it's society who has established what can be condoned. The idea that a person who says damn is vulgar, yet the person who says darn is not vulgar, in my opinion is an oxymoron. Each word implies the same thing. So by these standards shouldn't a person who wishes not to hear, read, or even utter profanities, not condone or use the substitutions either? The old adage "a book is still a book" no matter how you cover it, comes to mind.

Self-righteousness

Who are we in the eyes of God to merit our own actions or lack thereof? Just who do you think you are? Rest assured, God knows, yes, God knows our hearts.
