When buying gifts, it really pays to be perceptive. The better you know your boyfriend, the easier it will be to get him the perfect gift.

Here are some tips for finding the right gift:

- Pay attention to his hobbies, and how he spends his free time (when it isn't with you!). Get him something related. Sometimes this can be really obvious - for example, does he play guitar? Get him some guitar accessories. Does he love classic literature? Scout a used bookstore for an early copy of a classic book he loves.

- Does your boyfriend keeps any wishlists online, like at Amazon.com? Check and see if there's anything here.

- Most guys are into gadgets & electronics. These are usually a safe bet. Think about getting him an mp3 player, digital camera, or something of this sort.

- Consider getting him tickets to a concert, or tickets for his favorite sports team. Often the best gifts are 'experiences', not physical presents.

- If you're absolutely stumped, then don't be afraid to ask him! He won't mind giving you some hints.

Remember, if he really loves you, he'll be happy just to have you with him on his birthday! Anything else is icing on the cake - gifts don't have to be expensive, just thoughtful.
