Poetry: Romantic pain

by Jessica Capelle

Created on: May 07, 2008

A glass heart
Not yet bitter and cold, but close
No longer believing in love
Waiting to be hurt again
Watching and suspicious
Longing yet trying to leave
Forgiving but resenting
Too much has passed
Nothing left in me
Bile and blackness and rage spill out
Caring and tenderness and love spill out
Nothing can erase it
Cut it out of me
Rip it to shreds
Burn it to ashes
And let my soul free
The best of me dead
Him holding the gun.
