Poetry: What you made me

by Eric Hansen

Created on: May 06, 2008   Last Updated: May 07, 2008

I loved you with all my heart and soul
You were in my blood, in my bones
You were the air I breathed
The song on my lips, the joy in my eyes
You destroyed me!
Your love quietly seeped into my soul like a black serpent,
And strangled the life from me. You have killed me and all that I was.
You stabbed me in the heart with your wicked, jagged knife.
Pouring my blood into the darkness.
You broke my spirit, drained my love and,
Reformed me with fire and hate.
I was reborn into the darkness that you left me in.
Reforged into a power you could not control.
Will of Iron. Soul of Fire. Heat of Rage and Fury.
Now I rise from the ashes of my former self,
Like a dark phoenix I soar into the landscape of your blackened soul.
With fire I burn and words I cut.
I ravage your heart and rejoice in the dark ecstasy of your tears.
And you cry out What have I done'
As you bear witness to the evil you have bore into the world.
