There are several ways to use the Internet to work at home. One way that I used the Internet to earn income is through my network marketing business. This allows me to have a company website. For the past eight years because of residual income, I have been able to work at home.

Along with a website it's important to get traffic or visitors (on-line shoppers and business prospects). This can be done through a combination of on-line and off-line methods.

One of the keys to longevity in working at home is to create passive residual income. This is the opposite of linear income where you are trading time for dollars. To create residual income you perform a service or transaction once, but you get paid on it continually. You can continue to create an infinite number of customers or opportunities for your work at home business. This is called MSOPI or "multiple streams of passive income."

Other ways to work at home using the Internet is to research and develop a niche topic. A niche topic is one that a group of people are searching for on the Internet and not finding relevant results. You're mainly looking for keywords or phrases that people are typing into search engines like Google which have a limited number of websites (competition) and a relatively large demand (traffic) in comparison.

Selling "how to" information provides excellent opportunities to work at home. You can sell your knowledge, skills and experience to a niche market, using e-books, on-line newsletters, (ezines), how to videos, audios, special reports. They are also inexpensive to create. Mostly, you'll need talent and time, a plentiful resource when you work at home.

A third way to work at home is to sell "picks and shovels." Remember the gold rush of 1949. A lot of people went west to look for gold and a few of them struck it rich but most didn't. However, during the gold rush, one group really made a lot of money. Those was the vendors who sold the picks and shovels to others who were searching for gold. So, if you are able to supply the "tools" people need to market on-line, you can possibly do very well.

A fourth work at home opportunity is to become a consultant from the service you were doing on your job. This will mean that you only get paid for your time but you have control over what you charge and when you work.

Fifth, buying assets that produce income versus liabilities is a proven way to allow anyone who desires to work at home. Invest in residential or commercial real estate properties
