A great way to repurpose household items is to think of a great use for the item(s).
First of all-
Could this item be reusable?
If the item is some sort of plastic container with a lid, yes, it can be reused in some way.
What could it be reused for?
Could it be used to reorganize, help get organized or store things?
Could it be crafted into something useful?
Could the crafted item be used as a gift?
Could the crafted item be donated to a fund-raiser? School? Church? Scouts?
A good item to reuse would be the plastic coffee containers and lids. They come in a few different sizes and this would cut down on the recycling outside the home.
One can put a hole into the bottom and use it for a planter, the lid works well for the drip pan under the planter.
It can be used to store extra paint, and you can make a label the lid for future use.
A great storage container for crayons, pencils, markers, paper clips, staples and such.
If one is into crafts, they can be decorated nicely with fabric, ribbons, glitter, etc.
Then used to store craft items, such as beads, sequence, thread, ribbon, and more.
Decorated nicely they make a nice canister to sit around the house for decoration, or used as a candy, cookie, or snack canister.
They also make great to go snack containers for the outing events, like a softball/baseball/soccer game or any other type of outing.
They also make nice little storage containers for puzzles, game pieces, small toys and such if you have children.
Don't forget the garage- a great way to organize loose bolts, nails, screws, and misc., items.
If one has pets they could be used to store pet food and pet snacks so that they stay fresh longer.
You can also store all of those hair accessories, like bows, rubber bands, hair clips, bobby pins, perm rods and various items.
There is also use for them in the bathroom. Store your Q-tips, and cotton balls.
The airtight containers are great for storing flower seeds, bulbs, vegetable seeds, beens, and more. You can even wire together three or four of them, put a handle on it, and you have a little garden container to store your little garden hand tools.
The canisters stack nicely so they save space too in the closet, shed or garage.
