Science and technology in Boston, Massachusetts

Park is the Franklin Park Zoo. This historic landmark was founded in 1913 and its 72 acres is home today to more than 220 species of animals, including lions, giraffe, zebra and western lowland gorillas. The Franklin Park Zoo is affiliated with the Stone Zoo as part of the Zoo New England Experience.

The Stone zoo is set on 26 acres near the Spot Pond reservoir in Stoneham, MA, about 10 miles from Boston Center. Among the animals you'll find here are snow leopards, bald eagles, hornbills, emperor tamarinds, and jaguars and cougars. There is a petting zoo for the kids with varieties of sheep, goats, and even a pygmy zebu, a species of miniature humped cattle.

The Boston Museum of Science is guaranteed to leave the visitor spellbound. There is a planetarium, an IMAX theater, a 3-D digital cinema, and spectacular laser light shows combining music and incredible graphics, and much more. With more than 600 exhibits, Boston's Museum of Science has something for everyone, and the best part is it's all free for the enjoyment!

The current exhibits at the Boston Museum of Science are sure to dazzle. Who could walk away from a glassed-in beehive that allows visitors to observe bees as they go about the business of doing what bees do? Every bit as intriguing is an exhibit titled Beyond the X-Ray which offers lessons on the latest developments in medical imaging systems. Understanding sight is the aim of "Seeing is Deceiving", an exploration into how the eyes see. If you enjoy optical illusions, then this is for you.

There are simply so many more great exhibits at the Boston Museum of Science you simply can't schedule a single day for them all. That goes for the rest of Boston as well! Enjoy your stay.
