Reflections: Pet peeves

Hmmm...how do I start this list of pet peeves, and worse yet, how do I stop?

I will start with one of my biggest. I can hear it on my television at this very moment. "We are not actors, but real people just like you!" Weight loss programs. "Just buy our pre packaged meals and lose sixty pounds, it's that easy!"

Okay, nothing is that easy. If the pictures of those 'delicious' meals are actually what you get, no thanks! Have you seen the size of the meals compared to the size of the fork they show beside the plate? I estimate there are about five bites of food in each meal. They are over processed, over priced, over hyped TV dinners. Are people really that lazy that they cannot swap out oatmeal for breakfast over donuts, or a big green salad with lots of fresh, healthy, live, nutrient rich veggies for dinner? Sure, you might lose weight if you can stick to their rigid pre-made meals (if you can actually eat them), but at what cost to your health? Give me fresh fruit, vegetables, lean protein, and whole grains please. People need to think about what is going into their bodies and make healthy choices. You will lose weight AND become healthier at the same time. This does require thinking on your part though, so if you would rather not use your brain, by all means, jump on the band wagon.

FYI toothy, thin, glaringly blond child; the first time you picked up a script and received money for touting a product, you are a paid solicitor, and in my book, worse than an actor!

My next big pet peeve are people who jump in their car and drive one hundred yards to get to their next destination. Are you kidding me? Try some free transportation, it is called walking.

I know people who drive to the store for milk when said store is less than a five minute walk from their front door. Unless you are having a milk emergency, please keep the car parked.

I know people who live approximately seven minutes walking distance to their gym, but drive there to work out. This baffles me to no end.

I have seen people get in their car and drive 150 feet to the CVS, park, go in, grab a newspaper, and drive home again. Crazy!

Pet peeve number three; people who drive their kids to school every day. Unless your child is maimed or injured and can't walk, then by all means, do what you have to to get little Johnny to school. If it is storming or snowing, yes, your child's safety is important, so pack them in the car and transport them. I am talking about the parents who feel that their child shouldn't have
