One of the major causes of climate changes is the green house effects. The changes causes by gases due to human industrialization.Unless this development is controlled more climate changes will come about.
Climate change has a direct effect on food security anywhere on the globe.Any changes in weather pattern could impact on agriculture.Agriculture relies on weather. For instance if there were heavy periods of rain in the early part of this year will mean that crops were not harvested and some will be rotting away.
Rising sea levels were a direct impact of global warming. This usually causes coastal soil erosion.Climate change also changed the conditions of the oceans which resulted in coral bleaching and an unhealthy protein source from marine life.
The world was getting warmer as a result of uncontrolled emissions of greenhouse gases from industrial companies.Climate change resulted in a rise in sea levels, coastal erosion and the entry of salt into fresh water systems and small island countries are much vulnerable.
Climate change is a principal threat to the marine environment as it could affect coral reefs, fisheries and other marine based resources. This change could also result in the migration of fish and other marine resources to other waters meaning there would be a decline in stocks
Threats or pressure to marine resources such as over-fishing,population growth, climate change and destructive fishing methods had a drastic impact on catches and health of coral reef ecosystems.
The Kyoto Protocol is a positive step towards a global awareness on effects of climate change.Established by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. It is indeed encouraging to note that 165 countries have agreed in principle on the Kyoto Protocol. However it is rather unfortunate that some major super powers like the United States of America and Australia are not supporting the Kyoto Protocol.
Climate change experts have predicted that there will be more flooding in the future due to the rising in sea level.Rising sea level is also caused by the melting of ice in the Arctic.
The warning by the United Nation on the effects of climate change that will encounter the African continent should not be taken lightly. It is a very serious matter.United Nation warns that effects of climate change in Africa will affect seventy million people.Rising sea levels and droughts will worsen in Africa says the UN report.
Rich western nations should listen and take action to the concern by the United Nation. The hardest hit people will be the poorer developing nations especially in Africa.
In order to reduce the green house effects the use of renewable resources should be encouraged. The use of solar power, water power, wind power and geothermal power is an excellent alternative. It would slow down the climate change if it is made a global requirement in development.
