NBA team profile: 2007/2008 Sacramento Kings

they strung together three wins in a row, their best streak this season.

They ended January with a 9-6 record for the month, improving to 20-23 for the season, and a degree of optimism was now permeating the Kings camp.

However in February, the Kings again lacked the ability to back up, night after night, especially against bigger and more experienced teams.

Whilst they again strung together three victories in a row late in the month, this was sandwiched by a three-game losing streak beforehand, and a four-game losing streak directly afterwards.

They finished the month with a 6-8 win-loss record, and being 26-31 for the season, their inability to string together positive performances on the court were hampering the team's efforts at launching a lower-seeded playoff bid.

February also saw the NBA All-Star game take place in New Orleans, Louisiana, however the Kings had no representatives for the Western Conference this season.

It was announced on February 16th, that the Kings had traded long-time point guard Bibby to the Atlanta Hawks for Tyronn Lue, Anthony Johnson, Shelden Williams, Lorenzen Wright and a second round draft pick.

The move was done mostly to clear salary cap space for the future.

Bibby was the last remaining original player that got the Kings to the Western Conference Finals back in 2002.

In March, again it was a case of when the Kings were on, they were unstoppable, but when they were off, they were well-beaten.

They twice lost three games in a row for the month, but overall still interspersed these streaks with some decent form, ending the month with a 7-8 record in total, and going to 33-39 for the season.

In the highly-competitive Western Conference, this record meant that Sacramento were now well out of playoffs calculations, and playing for pride, more than anything else.

The Kings began April positively, with three victories on end, however, as they had all season, they couldn't sustain this form, ending the month with a 5-5 record, and an overall season tally of 38-44.

The Kings ended up second-last in the Pacific Division, 19 wins behind Division champion, the Lakers.

Their home record of 26-15 for the season was a huge positive, it was just their inconsistency on the road, which saw them finish with a 12-29 road record, which cost them dearly.

Another thing which hurt the Kings was most of their starters suffered niggling injuries and disciplinary problems through the season.

Only Moore played all 82 games, with such critical players as Martin missing
