NBA team profile: 2007/2008 Sacramento Kings

game this season (20.5 ppg and 2.3 spg). He joined Washington's Caron Butler (20.3 ppg, 2.2 spg) as the only forwards in that select group.

SG - Kevin Martin - 23.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.02 steals, and 36.3 minutes per game.

Martin started 57 of the 61 games in which he played, and scored a team-high and career-best 23.7 points per game. Martin finished the regular season ranked sixth in the NBA in scoring. Kevin missed 17 games due to a strained right groin. Kevin had one double-double but led the Kings in scoring in thirty-three games, rebounding in five, and assists in nine.

PG - Beno Udrih - 12.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 32.0 minutes per game

Udrih started 51 of the 65 games he played in after the trade of Mike Bibby. Udrih improved to 14.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game in those 51 starts. Udrih had three double-doubles and led team in scoring in seven games, rebounds in one game, and assists in twenty-nine. Udrih scored in double-figures in 40 of his 51 starts, on twelve occasions tallying 20 points or more. He has dished out five or more assists in 31 games this season and three times he recorded a career-high-tying ten assists. Even though he was signed as a free agent in November, Beno might get a serious look at a permanent job as the starter in Cowtown.

OUTLOOK

Sacramento will have the twelfth pick in the NBA Draft depending on the lottery. But, other than that, the Kings should have a great deal of cap space and time to decide what players they wish to keep and whom to build around. Paramount to that is the decision on Ron Artest. Artest is considered the best defender in the NBA aside from post players and is a viable second scoring option. He does have some drawbacks - primarily his attitude and his salary. If the Kings can make a decision on Ron Artest and Beno Udrih, and maybe even have some luck in the lotto, then this franchise could easily return to the playoffs sooner rather than later.
