The concept of giving birth control to high school teenagers is a complex issue. From a parents perspective, it sends the wrong message that it's okay for their children to have sex, especially, with the thought of accidental pregnancies. However, it depends on the guidance a young person gets from an adult as well, and if they are wise enough to be careful. So another wrong message would be sent if you did not care at all to give them protection.

When they are crazy about them, they will do anything to be around them. The result is not pretty if they rush into it. It depends on self control. So it would not hurt to at least think about what you are getting into, and get some education along the way.
It's understandable for any young person to take these huge steps,
